LinkedIn deleted its 'write with AI' button and gave everyone else a button to report you. At the end of July, LinkedIn shipped a 'Seems like AI slop' option into the post menu. Anyone can now flag your
writing as machine-made, and flagged content gets pulled back in recommendations to people outside your network. In the same move the company retired its own AI drafting tools — 'Write with AI' and 'Enhance your post', both previously sold as premium features. The replacement proofreads what you wrote without changing your voice. For scale: LinkedIn says it blocks hundreds of thousands of automated slop comments a day, and billions of automation attempts over recent months. And in July, Pangram Labs analysed just over a million posts across five platforms and found LinkedIn the most AI-saturated of them, with more than 40% of long-form posts flagged as fully AI-generated. Here's the part that matters beyond one platform. Every channel that runs on attention will eventually have to price authenticity, because the supply of plausible text has gone to zero. Reach used to be rationed by production cost. That rationing is gone, so platforms are rebuilding it by hand — as detection, as reporting, as reduced distribution. The wrong response is to stop using AI. I use it daily and I'd be slower without it. The right response is to make sure something in the work could only have come from you. A number out of your own operation. A decision you actually made and can defend. A position a competitor would refuse to sign their name to. The tell was never that a model was involved. It's that nobody was. If you stripped your name off your last five posts, could a reader still tell they were yours? #ContentStrategy #BrandVoice #LinkedInMarketing
